Creating space for the nursery
Although your newborn will likely sleep in your room for the first few months, setting up a dedicated nursery in advance can make life easier in the long run. If that room is currently an office, guest room, or storage space, you’ll need to clear it out to accommodate baby essentials like a cot, changing station, and storage for clothes and supplies.
Instead of overcrowding other rooms with displaced furniture, consider placing items in a storage unit. This way, you can keep things like spare beds, desks, or bookshelves safe until you need them again. Investing in storage now can also save you from repurchasing furniture when your child outgrows their cot and needs a proper bed. Some cot beds can turn into junior beds now so you may find you don’t need a full-size bed for your child for at least 4 years. Consider how long you’ll need to store your items so you can choose the right option.
If you think you will need access to your items regularly choose our safe and secure self-storage facilities. You can come and go as you please with your own key, within opening hours. Our long-term storage options are ideal if you don’t think you’ll need your belongings for many months or even years, and will also be the more economical choice.
