Ahead of your moving day, we’ll deliver hire crates and boxes to your door, so you can get everything packed. Or, if you prefer, you can use our personal packing service. You don’t even need to be at home because if you are busy, overseas or away during the planning and moving process, we are more than happy to take care of everything on your behalf.
Our home removals team includes an experienced foreman, who’ll be working from your detailed itinerary and floor plans and, of course, we’ll carefully label all your boxes so everything ends up in the right place.
Your foreman will make a final inspection to ensure everything has gone as planned. We can reposition heavy items and take away as much packaging as possible.
Everything we do is Health & Safety compliant. We hold a £5m Public Liability insurance and £10m Employer’s Liability insurance. Insurance for goods whilst in transit or storage can be arranged under an Open Cover arrangement with our insurers, Lloyd’s.

The price of a house removal in London will depend on a variety of factors. The greater the number of bedrooms in your house the more your house move is likely to cost. The distance between the old properly and the new one will also be a factor as will the inclusion of any additional services. If you require a full packing service or the removal of any special items such as a piano then this would also affect the price.

Not from us. At Alexanders we don’t provide ball-park moving quotes without having either carried out a survey of your property, either in person or via video. We have found that there are to many variable factors and it better for our clients to receive a fixed price quote following a survey. Many movers in London will provide unrealistic quotes which are inflated at the end of the move with extras that were not mentioned at the outset. After your survey our move managers back in the office will draw up a bespoke quote for you.
When moving house it can be difficult to compare quotes between moving companies to get a like-for-like comparison. It’s important to make sure moving companies are quoting for the same volume of goods, are carrying the move out over an equal number of days and also the same days. We always suggest checking whether there are additional costs for dismantling or assembling furniture and whether there will be any charges for parking at your house. At Alexanders we ensure there are ‘no hidden extras’ with our quotes and prices are totally transparent for our clients. The quality of service provided by moving companies varies greatly and choosing the cheapest option with removals is never recommended. Consideration should be given to the overall quality of the relocation service. Whilst choosing the cheapest option could save you money in the short term there could be some nasty surprises during the move or when the final invoice arrives.
You should give your professional removal company as much notice as possible when moving house as you may find the dates you want are unavailable, particularly during busy periods. Unfortunately we cannot reserve dates for your home removal until we have received a signed acceptance from you. At this point your moving services will be confirmed and the dates locked in. We appreciate there is a lot to organise when moving house but we suggest prioritising the booking of your removals services.
Yes. Most home moving companies will offer a full packing service at an additional cost. If you are looking for a totally stress-free move then we recommend leaving packing and unpacking to your professional removals firm. Alexanders offers a full packing and moving service. If you wish to do your own packing
Yes. However there will be charges associated with providing them. At Alexanders all our packing materials are recyclable and eco-friendly. We also plant a tree on behalf of our clients for every move booked to offset the energy used for the move.
Yes. Your moving company will be able to dismantle furniture and reassemble it for you at your new house if required. There may be extra charges involved with this service.
Yes. The majority of professional movers offer removals and storage services. There is considerable benefit in choosing a removal company who offer both and provide a complete end-to-end service rather than using a 3rd party storage company. At Alexanders we provide a wide variety of storage services depending on the length of time you require your storage and also the access you require. If you don’t need frequent access we usually recommend container storage which can be more economical than self storage which provides the ultimate flexibility.
